Supergirl
Supergirl is the name of several superheroines in DC Comics. The most iconic is Kara Zor-El, cousin of Superman. Created by writer Otto Binder and artist Al Plastino, she first appeared in Action Comics #252 (May 1959).
Concept
Designed as a female counterpart to Superman, Kara shares his powers—super strength, speed, flight, invulnerability, heat vision, and more—granted by Earth’s yellow sun, along with his vulnerability to Kryptonite.
