Northern pintails breed in Newfoundland where they inhabit lakes and ponds. Matt was able to film these clips of northern pintails in Mundy Pond. You may also occasionally see northern pintails in Quidi Vidi Lake. Northern pintails eat seeds from aquatic plants, worms, snails, crustaceans, aquatic insects, and grains. The male northern pintail and female northern pintail are different in appearance. this is a male on the left, and a female on the right. Birds of prey are known to be some of the animals that prey on northern pintails. Northern pintails are 51 to 76 cm in length, weigh 500 grams to 1.5 kg, and have a wingspan of about 86 cm.
