Meet Betty, our Tiny Goeldi’s Monkey

Last month, the primate keepers at the Houston Zoo found a surprise waiting for them when they approached the Goeldiā€™s (pronounced “gell-dees”) monkey night houseā€”a tiny baby hanging onto a branch in her enclosure. The team moved swiftly to reintroduce her to her mother, Kylie. In doing so, the animal care professionals found the infant to be significantly smaller than a typical Goeldiā€™s newborn.

Giant River Otters and Jaguars in Brazil

Every time you visit the Zoo, you’re helping protect wild otters and jaguars like the ones featured in this video in the wild. The Zoo provides support and training for Brazilian conservation partner, Projecto Ariranhas. This partner trains local guides in the Porto Jofre Region of Brazil to lead otter and jaguar-safe tours so that local people and wildlife in the region can safely and successfully benefit from ecotourism.
