Albino alligators are back at Georgia Aquarium! Albinism is a rare genetic mutation noted by a lack of melanin, a skin pigment, which causes the skin to be white and eyes to appear pink. It’s estimated that only about 50 albino alligators survive in the world.
Colors Of The Amazon Aviary
On August 1, 1996, the Colors of the Amazon walk-through aviary opened its double-doors and has been a favorite attraction at the Zoo ever since. Zoo visitors can mingle with a variety of exotic birds, who, free from cages and other typical enclosures, roam about as if they were still in their native South America.
