Pocket gophers are large subterranean rodents, which are difficult to observe in the wild. Giant Pocket Gopher (Orthogeomys grandis) – weighing almost two pounds – is restricted to Mexico and northern Central America. Watch this Giant Pocket Gopher warily emerging from one of its tunnels to grab a stem of Dahlia imperialis, seen in the highlands of Guatemala.

HELLO LITTLE FLOOF! We are happy to share a Chilean flamingo chick has hatched. This now five-day old chick is a historical birth for our Zoo; the first flamingo born at RWPZoo in 22 years. Mom is doing a great job tending to her little one. Our fabulous keepers and vet care team will continue to monitor mom and baby.
