Extreme weather patterns have wreaked havoc in Texas and other parts of the country. SeaWorld San Antonio’s rescue team has been helping rescue over 100 turtles (and counting) along the Texas coastline. Turtles are cold-blooded and cannot regulate their own body temperatures, leaving them at increased risk of death when cold weather occurs.
Great Backyard Bird Count – The event was a hit!
A heartfelt thank you to everyone around the world who joined in the Great Backyard Bird Count 2021! Here are some of the participation numbers so far.
Orangutan Henry – Enrichment is Important – Cincinnati Zoo
Orangutans are thinkers and problem solvers. They are known to sit and think and don’t act right away. While the other great ape species like gorillas are usually found in groups, orangutans tend to be more solitary. Henry sometimes hangs out with the white-handed gibbons but for the most part, he prefers to be alone. Orangutans are highly intelligent and are able to fashion tools, solve puzzles, and operate computers. Because they are so smart, it’s important for his care team to provide plenty of enrichment to their lives.
