On this #WorldGiraffeDay we’re highlighting how we care for the world’s tallest animals, specifically training methods that happen behind the scenes. We train animals at our Zoo for a variety of behaviors that help them voluntarily participate in medical care, demonstrate their unique and natural abilities, and build trust with their keepers.
World Rainforest Day – Trees
This film is about an unusual friendship, loyalty, about destruction and an ancient tree. We want to tell you this story because we lose our trees every day. Every minute we destroy 21 hectares of our forests worldwide. And that despite the fact that forests are important habitats, help to preserve our biodiversity and stabilise our climate.
Red Panda
With its thick russet fur, bushy striped tail, and kitten-like face, the Red Panda(Ailurus fulgens) is one of the Himalayas’ cutest inhabitants. It was first described by a French zoologist in 1825 – 48 years before the Giant Panda was ever catalogued. Although sometimes referred to as “the Lesser Panda,” the Red Panda is actually “the first panda.”
