Treating Matu’s Toe- Co-Operate Care With A Masai Giraffe
Earlier in October, Matu sustained a broken toe on his hind left foot. “Standing sedation” treatment began immediately, along with 3x a day training sessions to best care for this 11-foot-tall patient. As you might imagine, caring for a foot issue on a giraffe is no easy task.

The Little Penguin That Could Update
In early October 2023, Wildlife Care Keepers noticed that 24-year-old male penguin Flap was not his usual self when they started their shift in the morning. Flap was lying on his belly with his back legs sticking out. This is not unusual if they are resting, however, it appeared that he may be paralyzed as both his legs and feet were completely immobile.
