Red Panda

With its thick russet fur, bushy striped tail, and kitten-like face, the Red Panda(Ailurus fulgens) is one of the Himalayas’ cutest inhabitants. It was first described by a French zoologist in 1825 – 48 years before the Giant Panda was ever catalogued. Although sometimes referred to as “the Lesser Panda,” the Red Panda is actually “the first panda.”

On World Environment Day, seven more #Orangutans were released into the true wild! Releasing orangutans isn’t easy, as we faced many challenges along the way – but the dedication and tireless efforts of the TNBBBR Authority, the Central Kalimantan BKSDA, and our BOSF team, led to triumph!

Wolverine (Gulo gulo)

Introduction

The Wolverine’s scientific name is “Gulo gulo” (Latin for glutton). Wolverines are found throughout much of North America and Eurasia. They proudly hold the title of world’s largest weasel, with the large males commonly documented at over three feet-long.

Despite the superhero of the same name’s temperament, wolverines are solitary, nocturnal creatures that are rather mild-mannered unless provoked. In cases where the Wolverine’s family or habitat are threatened by predation, both male and female members of the species will aggressively stand their ground.
