How to Remove European Water Chestnut | Parks Canada

Aquatic invasive plants such as Water Chestnut can infest our lakes and rivers, impede the flow of water, and prevent people from enjoying recreational activities.

Community volunteers can make a big difference and play an important role in helping Parks Canada manage the spread of these invasive plants.

demonstrate the skills and equipment you will need to identify European Water Chestnut and carefully remove it on your own.

Egyptian Tortoise Hatchlings Eating Lettuce

We’re celebrating two tortally wonderful hatchdays! Egyptian tortoise ‘Giza’ turned one on July 8th, while ‘Sphinx’ turned one on July 18th!

It’s incredible to think these two torts are just one year old – they’re still so tiny! Egyptian tortoises reach maturity at five years, and as of now, we haven’t determined their sexes.

Giza and Sphinx mark a significant milestone as the first successful Egyptian tortoise hatchlings since the species arrived at the zoo a decade ago. We’re thrilled that they bring hope to this Critically Endangered
