The Bald Eagle(Haliaeetus leucocephalus)is a bird of prey native to North America. It is easily recognizable due to its white head and the yellow beak. The bald eagle is not bald. The “ Bald ” is a deviation of “ balde ”, an Old English word meaning white. The eagle was named for its white feathers instead of a lack of feathers. It is a sea eagle, and its preferred prey is fish, although it occasionally preys upon small mammals. The Bald Eagle is the national emblem of United States since 1782.

Florida Manatee Daphne Released – Cincinnati Zoo

Female manatee Daphne was released into her native Florida waters earlier this week. After being rescued by SeaWorld Orlando as an orphan in 2018 and spending a year rehabilitating at the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden, another U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service’s Manatee Rescue & Rehabilitation Partnership (MRP) participant is back in the habitat where she was born.

Playful gorilla toddler Gernot shows off a perfect roly poly at ZSL London Zoo! Zookeepers have captured the adorable moment five-year-old gorilla Gernot showed off the perfect roly poly this week – after playfully practicing the move all summer. Footage taken by zookeepers shows the youngster preparing himself on a tree stump before pirouetting backwards and cartwheeling into a perfectly executed forward roll – making it a quadruple for good measure – while visitors gasp in appreciation.
