The vast, untamed Liuwa Plains was once home to great herds and formidable predators, but war and poaching nearly erased its wildlife. Left with only a single Lioness(Panthera leo), the ecosystem fell out of balance, allowing hyenas to dominate. Now, conservationists are racing to restore Liuwa, reintroducing lions and tracking predators to measure recovery. Their work is starting to pay off, as the park’s lost herds and hunters slowly return.
