What do you do when you find an injured bird on the ground? For Clemence, she does everything she can to help.
@1993FLAP volunteer Clemence patrolled the streets of downtown Toronto before her shift as a wildlife rehabilitator at TWC. Her heart sank when she spotted the first bird, a Ruby-Crowned Kinglet, barely moving after striking a window. She cradled his tiny, frail body and placed him in a paper bag, hoping he would make it. Not long after, she saw the second injured bird on the ground… then a third… then a fourth… finally, the twentieth. One by one, she picked them all up, but was devastated to find that a majority of them hadn’t survived.
But for the ones still clinging to life, she rushed them to TWC.
Since the start of September, over 300 migratory birds have been admitted needing urgent care – many who were rushed in after striking windows, often thanks to the tireless efforts of our friends at Fatal Light Awareness Program Canada. Watch all it took to help these little birds return to their migratory journeys.
