Monkey Requires Surgery After Fight | Malawi Wildlife Rescue 106

This YouTube video was produced by Love Nature.

As the release season nears its end, Malawi’s wildlife rescue team prepares to release a troop of thirteen Vervet Monkeys(Chlorocebus pygerythrus) back into the wild. However, the process proves challenging. One monkey, Friday, injures his hand in a fight and requires skilled surgery from British vet Dr. Sophie Widdowson to ensure he can rejoin his troop. Meanwhile, Kongola, the group’s leader, tests Animal Manager Alma van Dorenmalen’s patience by refusing to come inside as the team readies for the long journey to Vwaza Marsh. In another part of the country, veterinarians Dr. Amanda Salb and Mandy Harwood work to rescue a hyena trapped in a poacher’s snare, using a dead goat as bait and hyena calls to lure it in. Though they eventually spot the injured animal, it’s too skittish for a successful dart shot. Amanda also receives an emergency call to track down a Lion(Panthera leo) wandering near human settlements, ultimately calling in a helicopter to help guide the animal back to the National Park.
