SPECIAL GUEST FERNANDO MEDRANO MARTINEZ is deputy director of the Chilean NGO Red de Observadores de Aves y Vida Silvestre de Chile, or ROC (a Chilean network of bird watchers and nature lovers) and South American leader of Aves del Mundo. He has worked with several storm-petrel species around the world, helping to discover the first breeding colonies of several storm-petrel species in the Atacama Desert. More recently, he developed his PhD at the University of Barcelona where he worked with several species of storm petrels on Guadalupe Island (Mexico), Cape Verde and the Canary Islands.
