Agaves are an essential source of food and habitat for several migratory bat species. An increased demand for tequila and mezcal means that agaves are often harvested before they bloom, leaving bats hungry. Bat Conservation International is leading a new initiative to sustainably feed bats and restore their natural habitat of wild agave.
